CELEBRATION GENEROSITY 2015 - GET TO KNOW NOMI NETWORK

Our partnership with Nomi Network began with their founding in 2008 and we’re grateful for the life-changing work they do around the world. Click here to read another blog post on our partnership with Nomi at the holidays. Nomi Network’s mission is to create economic opportunities for survivors and women at risk of human trafficking by equipping them with leadership, entrepreneurship, and production skills to become financially independent. Our goal for Celebration Generosity is to provide Nomi Network with the resources needed to build an enhanced training center for survivors and at risk women in India.

Learn more about the issues of human trafficking and how Nomi is helping, by reading these recommended articles...

1) It's important to understand all the various kinds of trafficking as well as its global implications. This article gives you a basic grounding in understanding this issue from all angles. Nomi Co-Founder, Alissa Moore, recommends Polaris Project as one of the most helpful resources to turn to if you are new to this issue.

2) This article from the NYTimes is helpful because Bihar, India shares a border with Nepal and many of the survivors of trafficking that Nomi encounters have been trafficked across the Nepal border. Although the article focuses on the rise in AIDS/HIV cases in survivors of trafficking, it also paints a vivid picture of the issue of human trafficking, specifically sex trafficking in India, and the resulting health risks.

3) This is a piece that Nomi Co-Founder, Diana Mao, wrote about labor trafficking in supply chains. It's a quick reminder that what we consume is often tainted with forced labor and it’s a great article to read to better understand the work Nomi does to present alternatives to these problems.
