GOD DOESN'T NEED OUR MONEY, BUT...

by Lewis Hugh

Jesus died and rose for us and there's nothing we can do to add or take away from that act. We could do nothing with that and still be assured of our salvation and reconciliation with God, yes, but I'm of the school of thought that if we really believe that, we would want to do all in our power to give back to God, even if it's not necessary or asked of us. God doesn't need our money, but I think giving financially helps us have a correct perspective. It's God first, and worldly concerns second.

There's also a more practical side of me that just says, "Well, God asked us to, so tithing is one way we trust and follow God."

Secondly, while we are in the realm of the physical, churches need money to run- simple as that.

Lastly, I think it is our actions in particular- our investments as Christians that say the most about what we believe and stand for. Words are just lip service if there is no money on the table for it. We back up our words with action.
